background info

After years of work in construction management and design, Peter Kappertz obtained his Architect’s registration in Oregon and Washington.  In 2001 he formed a Professional Corporation, Architecture Northwest.

Architecture Northwest’s  primary focus is retail, commercial, industrial work.  Their most notable projects in the last few years include: an 18,000 square foot retail center, a two story office building expansion and a 27,000 square foot mixed use office-retail-shop building.

Architecture Northwest provides complete “turn-key” services, covering all phases of land use planning, site design, building design and permit processing

Peter Kappertz’ prior experience includes design services for small commercial projects with a specialty in the petroleum industry.   Typical projects included: convenience stores, gas stations, card locks, truck stops, bulk plants and car wash facilities.

He worked more than six years as a project manager for a commercial design firm. During his tenure he coordinated the fast-tracked site design and permitting of 20 quick service restaurants and he was involved with the design of over 250 fueling facilities.

He also worked 2 years as construction manager for a commercial development company. His most notable achievement was the planning and coordination of the complete remodeling of 96 Plaid Pantry convenience stores within a six month period.  Mr. Kappertz also supervised the design and construction of six new convenience stores with retail fuel service in less than 18 months.

His previous experience includes 3 years working for Major Commercial Contractors as Cost Estimator, Project Engineer, and Assistant Project Manager.  The various projects he worked on include tilt up concrete, post-tensioned concrete and steel frame construction ranging from $500,000 to $10,000,000 in value.

Peter Kappertz is also active in his local community.  He is founding Vice President and a current Director of the Boring, Oregon Foundation.  An Eagle Scout himself, he is an active leader in the Boy Scouts, having served as Cub Master, Scoutmaster and currently Eagle Mentor.
